Privacy Policy

RoomAccord ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a RoomAccord account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
House & Household Data
We store information you create within the app, including house names, member lists, agreements, rent entries, and notices. This data is tied to your house and shared with all members of that house.
Usage Data
We collect anonymous analytics about how the app is used — screens visited, features tapped, session duration. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual users.
Device Information
We may collect device type, operating system, and app version to help diagnose issues and improve compatibility.
2. How We Use Your Information
To Provide the Service
Your data is used to operate RoomAccord — creating and managing houses, syncing household data across members, sending notifications, and enabling agreement signing.
To Improve the Product
Aggregated, anonymised usage data helps us understand which features are valuable and where friction exists.
To Communicate with You
We may send transactional emails (password resets, agreement notifications) and, with your consent, product updates. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.
To Ensure Security
We monitor for suspicious activity, abuse, and unauthorised access to protect you and other users.
3. Data Sharing
With House Members
Data you create within a house (agreements, notices, rent logs) is visible to all current members of that house. Removing a member does not delete their historical contributions.
With Service Providers
We use Supabase for database and authentication, and may use third-party services for analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
RoomAccord does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights and safety of RoomAccord users.
4. Data Retention
Active Accounts
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after to allow account recovery.
Deleted Accounts
When you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal profile data within 30 days. Household data (agreements, rent logs, notices) may persist for remaining house members unless the house owner deletes the house.
5. Your Rights
Access & Portability
You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time by contacting us.
Correction
You can update your name and email directly in the app. For other corrections, contact us.
Deletion
You can delete your account from app settings. This removes your personal profile. To request full erasure of all associated data, contact us.
Opt-Out
You can opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.
6. Security
Encryption
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication is handled via Supabase Auth with industry-standard security practices.
Access Controls
Access to production data is limited to engineers who need it to operate the service, under strict role-based controls.
Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
7. Children's Privacy
RoomAccord is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of RoomAccord after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
